Netball Camps

Leeds Rhinos Netball have Junior and Senior Camps coming up over the Summer Holidays in Barnsley, York, Otley, Harrogate, Wakefield and Leeds.

The two-day camps are £60 and will be led by Level 2 coaches.  Junior Camps are for players aged 7-10 and Senior camps are for players aged 11-15 and will be a chance for the young players to learn new skills and meet friends.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON A RHINOS NETBALL CAMP

Junior Camp:

Carefully designed and delivered by our highly qualified Rhinos Netball coaches, this camp will be one of the highlights of your child’s holiday. This fun and inclusive camp can be enjoyed by all ability levels with fun and learning being the main objectives. The players in attendance can look forward to a host of activities which include:

- Refining their ball handling skills, footwork patterns and agility through purposeful drills, challenges and fun games

- An opportunity to develop their attacking and defensive understanding with specific positional workshops

- An afternoon of match play where they can show off their skills in their favourite netball positions

- Most importantly, have fun with new and old friends!

Senior Camp:

Want to keep practicing your netball skills with qualified coaches during the holidays? Or want to spend some time with friends trying something new? This is the camp for you?

Suitable for all abilities, this camp will see our highly qualified coaches guide you through a day full of ball challenges, fun team games and exciting drills followed by an afternoon of matchplay against one another to showcase your skills and teamwork.

The players in attendance will also have access to position-specific workshops to further develop and challenge their individual skill set. They will then later have the opportunity to put this in to game play to develop game understanding and skill application.

CAMP SCHEDULE

9.30am – 10.00am: Participants will start to arrive and register. Participants may sit and relax or grab a ball and start a game or shooting etc.

10.00am – 10.30am: Fun Games

These can be small sided games that include team work to get to know each other, relay races and challenges. 

10.30am – 11.00am: Ball Skills/Landing Skills

Day 1 – Individual ball skills and landing skills isolated to the one person working.

Day 2 – Team ball skills that combine teamwork and ball skills together and partnered landing skills to incorporate competition or resistance. 

11.00am – 11.15am: Snack

11.15am – 12:30pm: Attack and Defence

Day 1 – Attacking skills looking at being creative with the variety of skills available and how to put these into game scenarios to overcome defenders.

Day 2 – Defence skills to shut down the attackers and turn over the ball. Learn how to use different defence styles for different game scenarios.

12.30pm – 1.00pm: Lunch

1.00pm – 3.00pm: Match Play

During match play games will stop and start were needed to discuss and explain options in different situations. We may also have some challenges and conditions throughout the games and discuss how these have impacts on our performance and why they are important.

RESIDENTIAL CAMP

Following on from the success of its first Residential, Leeds Rhinos Netball will once again be joining forces with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Woodhouse Grove School to deliver its second Leeds Rhinos Residential camp this Summer.

The camp is for children from school year 7-11 (From September 2024) and will take place at Woodhouse Grove from 10am on Monday 12th August until 3pm on Thursday 15th August.

What to expect

Carefully designed and delivered by highly qualified Rhinos Netball coaches, this residential will be one of the highlights of a child’s holiday. This fun and inclusive residential can be enjoyed by all ability levels with fun and learning being the main objectives. 

- The players in attendance can look forward to a host of activities which include

- Refining your netball skills through challenges and games.

- Specific positional workshops.

- Meet Rhinos players.

- Insight into nutrition, performance analysis, mental wellbeing, conditioning and recovery.

Also included on the camp:

- 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

- Rhinos T-Shirt, Hoody and medal. (Size will be taken after sign up)

- Accommodation (room assignment with friends can be requested once booked).

- Full-time welfare and safeguarding officer on duty in addition to the coaches.

- Evening activities including swimming and film night.
