Rhea Dixon returns to NIC Rhinos Netball for the 2027 season
NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball are delighted to announce the return of attacking star Rhea Dixon, who rejoins the club ahead of the 2027 Netball Super League season.
Dixon was a key member of the Rhinos' inaugural squad in 2021, helping the club secure a top-four finish in its first season in the Netball Super League. Now, after six seasons away, she returns to West Yorkshire as a two-time league champion, Grand Final MVP and established international.
Since leaving the Rhinos, Dixon has enjoyed a hugely successful spell with Loughborough Lightning, where she lifted back-to-back Netball Super League titles in 2023 and 2024. Her outstanding performances culminated in being named the 2024 Grand Final MVP as Lightning completed their title-winning campaign. The versatile attacker then joined Nottingham Forest Netball ahead of the 2025 season and continued to showcase her quality across the attacking third.
Dixon's movement, vision and experience add further strength to the Rhinos' attacking options as preparations continue for the 2027 season.
On the international stage, Dixon has also continued her rise. After representing England at Under-17 and Under-21 level and touring New Zealand with the Vitality Roses in 2021, she switched allegiance to Jamaica through her family heritage. She made her Sunshine Girls debut against England in the 2024 Vitality Netball Horizon Series and has since become an international player with one of the world's leading netball nations.
Speaking after returning to the club, Dixon said:
“When the opportunity came up, it was quite a no-brainer, to be honest. To be back at a club that means so much to me, where I've had such amazing experiences, is something I'm really delighted about. I'm also so happy to be back up north because I just love Leeds.
“To be at a Commonwealth Games is just a dream come true, let alone be stood on the podium. To represent Jamaica is such a massive honour, and I've still not come down from the experience, to be honest.
“I've heard really good things about Lauren. I know she really cares about her players and creating a good environment, I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can build together.”
NIC Rhinos Head Coach Lauren Palmer added:
“A big thing for us was bringing in some experience and leadership, and players who we knew were really fond of the franchise, just as we are of them. Having Rhea come back is a huge thing for the Rhinos. It shows that she wants to be here and be part of something exciting, while the experiences she’s had since stepping away from the franchise will be brilliant to bring back into the group.
“Rhea is incredibly smart and brings so much quality to the attacking end. I think the link-up between her, Paige and the other attacking players is going to be really creative, and having someone like Rhea gives us the opportunity to think outside the box and play around with our style and structure.
“Rhea knows what the franchise is about and is really well thought of here, so I’m looking forward to seeing her bring that experience and help add to the positive culture we’ve already built.”
Everyone at NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball is delighted to welcome Rhea back to the club and looks forward to seeing her back in blue for the 2027 season.
