NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball confirm departures

NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball have confirmed that along with Geva Mentor, who announced her retirement from the sport at the end of the season, six players have departed the club.

Beth Britain, who captained the club in 2025, played in all 14 games for the Rhinos in her debut season and made a big impact as a leader on and off the court.

Ash Dekker, who was a new recruit for NIC Rhinos in 2025, also announced she will be retiring from netball.  Ash featured in all 14 games for the Rhinos last season, her final game coming against Nottingham Forest.  She played in six Netball Super League seasons that earned her a call up the Future Roses programme.

Sophie Egbaran made 12 appearances for the NIC Rhinos last season, scoring 48 goals and becoming a fan favourite.  Sophie was part of the Future Roses programme when she joined the Rhinos and this year her form has earned her selection for the England U21 squad for the Netball World Youth Cup.

Jess Haynes will also move on from the club after a year with the Rhinos.  Jess played in 12 games, with nine coming in the starting line up, and she formed an impressive partnership with Geva Mentor over the season.  Not only did Jess play a key role for NIC Rhinos on the court she also supported the club’s community work through her role with Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

Rosie Harris, who was part of the first-ever Rhinos squad in their inaugural season, has also announced she will leave the club.  The Sheffield-born player had three spells with the club and played 35 matches for the club.  Rosie will now concentrate her career in the sports science and development team with Leeds United.

Finally, Ella Bowen ends her time with the Rhinos after a season in the blue and amber.  Another fan favourite who brought plenty of energy and positive vibes both in training and on game day and was a valued member of the team.  She played six matches, but the defender made a big impact whenever she was on the court.

Lisa McCormick, General Manager for NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball said: "I would like to thank all the players for their contributions to our club both on and off the court. It was a difficult start to the year with the change in the coaching team early in pre-season, but every player showed incredible professionalism and resilience throughout the season. This group of players have been a pleasure to work with and I look forward to seeing what is next for them. To Geva and Ash, who have confirmed their retirements, we wish them all the best for the future and congratulate them on the lasting impact they will leave on the sport."
