Mvula ready for another season at NIC Rhinos in 2026

NIC Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that Malawi international and fan favourite Joyce Mvula will return for the 2026 Netball Super League season.

Mvula has been the team’s top goal scorer for the last two seasons, and this year was named Coaches’ Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.  She scored 505 goals over the season, the fifth highest total in the competition.

She was a Super League winner with Manchester Thunder in 2022 before signing for New Zealand side Central Pulse.  Her international debut came in 2010 and has represented Malawi in the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

Speaking about returning to the Rhinos for her third season, Mvula said: “I'm just happy for the opportunity and grateful. This is going to be my third season, and I think I'm quite comfortable here and I love it here and I take this as my home.

“The Rhinos fans have been with us, in hard times and in good times. We love our fans and want them to continue on this journey with us and can't wait to see them next season to bring them entertaining games to watch.”

NIC Rhinos Netball head coach, Lauren Palmer, added: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Joyce has re-signed with us. She’s grown tremendously over the past year — physically stronger, more confident in her movement, and able to sink super shots with consistency.

“Beyond her performance on the court, Joyce is an exceptional person who adds so much value to our environment. Her attitude, work ethic, and potential are second to none, and I’m really excited to continue working with her next season.”
