Salary: Competitive for 40 hours per week (flexible hours according to training and match schedule)
Contract Dates: 2 Years – 1 Year / 1 Year Option
About the role
NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball were successfully awarded a licence for the new era of the Netball Super League following an extensive tender process. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced coach to lead our high-quality squad in their 5th campaign in the NSL. We’re looking for someone with a great netball vision who is also able to guide and support Nxt Gen and NPL teams, working in collaboration with the wider Netball community to professionalise, commercialise and grow the game in Yorkshire and the North East.

The Head Coach will be responsible for:
• Managing and delivering a professional, high performance netball programme.
• The day to day coaching of the Netball Super League team through their pre-season, training and fixtures.
• Individual athlete development in line with performance standards for the franchise, ensuring each athlete has a Individual Performance Plan (IPP), and is supported to achieve their goals.
• The creation and delivery of the overarching coaching strategy for the franchise, including a style of play. Communicating this to Super League, Nxt Gen and NPL coaches. Providing opportunity and support for their development.
• Management of the multi-disciplinary team supporting NSL, overseeing the wrap around support for the team including (but not limited to) sport science, medical, psychology, nutrition, and performance analysis
• Working alongside the pathway coaches across all ages groups to ensure the long term throughput of players through the performance pathway.
• Providing input into and delivery of the franchise business plan and strategy, including community and commercial aspects.
• Generating new ideas and innovations, cultivating relationships to help drive the franchise forward. Maximising new and existing opportunities for positive public profile of NIC Leeds Rhinos Netball, in conjunction with England Netball, Yorkshire Netball, County Associations, Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
• Supporting colleagues in attracting commercial income and opportunities to the franchise
• Explore cross sport opportunities with Leeds Rhinos Rugby League to provide mutually beneficial profile.
• The recruitment and retention of athletes in line with the franchise strategic vision and in collaboration with the wider coaching and management team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (E – essential, D – desirable)
Qualifications and Experience
• Experience of coaching netball within a performance environment at elite level eg Pathway Lead, NSL, SSN or International. (E)
• Experience of leading or assisting a senior team in national competition (E)
• Broad knowledge and experience of working in collaboration with a sports science department and other multi-disciplinary support services (El)
• Experience of Developing Players through an Elite Pathway (D)
• UKCC Level 2 / Equivalent or above (E)
Essential Competencies
• Ability and experience in coaching a senior group of players
• Able to lead the technical and performance standards of the team
• Excellent and demonstrable athlete management and development skills
• Ability to communicate in a concise and meaningful manner tactical changes and technical improvements to athletes in a pressurised situation.
• Ability to inspire, build trust and create a positive team culture
• Excellent communication and people skills
• A proven understanding of performance sport and the role of a coach within a high-performance environment
• Experience of planning and implementing a successful high-performance programme
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of all athletes
• Ability to lead and work in a team
• Ability to set and evaluate group and individual goals
• Organised and efficient with IT and competent with necessary administration
• Understand the importance of developing brand profile, having positives relationships with sponsors
Desirable Competencies
• Experience of leading a multi-disciplinary team and utilising data to inform decision making
• Knowledge of Sports Code, ethics and performance analysis (D)
