Bartercard Surrey Storm 65 Rhinos Netball 49

Leeds Rhinos Netball were unable to find any joy on the road against title contenders Surrey Storm in Round 13 of the Netball Super League.

It was a disappointing start to the game for Liana Leota's side after they converted the first centre pass of the game and then Gusgoth ensured her team doubled that with the turnover.  Paige Reed, who started at shooter alongside Brie Grierson at goal attack got the first points of the game for the Rhinos and the pair then got one apiece to make it level.  The homeside soon took control of the game and their clinical attacking play saw them take a 20-8 lead after the first quarter.  Proscovia Peace with 14 goals and Sophie Drakeford-Lewis with six goals.

In the second quarter Leeds showed fight to claw their way back into the game and seven goals from Grierson and five from Reid kept them within distance and Vicki Oyesola continued to keep up the pressure defensively getting three turnovers, but another impressive quarter from Peace, who kept up her 100% record with another 13 goals made sure the homeside looked comfortable with 35-20 lead at the break.

Leota brought on Ellie Bird at goal shooter at the start of the second half in place of Grierson and Reed switching to goal attack.  Bird finished off her opportunities with six goals from six attempts and Reed matched that effort.  There was no stopping one of the league's most prolific scorers at the opposite end of the court though, with another 13 from 13 from Peace to see Storm go in with 19 goal lead heading into the final quarter.

Francesca Wells replaced Peace in the final half and sunk eight more goals.  Rhinos never gave up the fight and had their best best attacking quarter of the game with eight goals apiece from Reed and Bird, but Storm had never looked like losing their grip of the match after their strong start and the win took them back to the top of the Netball Super League table.
